Thanksgiving…Carving a Turkey Like a Pro

Since Thanksgiving is this week and most of us will be spending time with our families, I thought I’d add a post that I came across that teaches you how to carve a turkey like a pro.

Enjoy…

Sleazy Marketing Techniques

I don’t know about you, but I am sick.  Sick and tired of all of the sleazy, sleazy tactics used online just so someone can make a quick buck.

Case in point…you get a recommendation from a marketer to purchase X product for a small fee.   It seems like a good purchase, the sales letter really spoke to you, it seemed that it was exactly what you needed.   Once you purchase that and you get into the “members area”; you’re told that in order to “really” get the secrets you have to purchase Y…which is typically at a price multiple times higher than the one you paid.

Additionally, in the sales letter, you may have been promised that you can learn how to make $___ per day and that they’d show you how.

Only to find out that this “secret way” was to resell the product you were just suckered into.

In my humble, 11+ years experience online, this is nothing more than a fancy version of a pyramid scheme.

I’m sick of it.   As an Internet Marketer myself, it’s people like this who pull these kinds of stunts that makes those involved in internet marketing appear no better than a sleazy used-car salesman (my apologies to those honest car salesmen out there).

Second case in point…you’re promised a “freebie”.  This freebie is worth $___whatever, usually a pretty high ticket item. And it appears as though it’s a great deal and that you are getting this freebie because you are on a very special mailing list…it’s only for their “special” customers…

…only to find out that once you visit the page and are all ready to get this free gift, you’ll be automatically signed up for a newsletter that will end up costing you the same amount that the product was worth in the first place within a few months’ time.

Yet another one…you expect, when you’re told that something is “exclusive” to a list that you’re on, that it is indeed, “exclusive” meaning no one else will be privy to the information you’re about to view.  Only to get the same exact email from countless other marketers.

I’ve been online and in Internet marketing for years and years and I’ll tell you, something has to change.  It makes me sick that so many people are being suckered into buying products that don’t work, aren’t useful and end up costing you more in the end.  Either that or someone is pulling a bait and switch on you.

Here’s a fact:  Anyone can say anything they want to online - I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that…however, while there actually are people who do earn thousands of dollars a month online, they are few and far between…regardless of what someone may say.

The bottom line is, most people would just be happy making a full-time income online…whether that be $2,000, $3,000 or even $4,000 a month.  Some simply just want to make their car payment.  Not everyone online makes tens of thousands of dollars a month but many would lead you to believe that they do.

This is what keeps thousands of people online buying product after product…after all, they’ve been told that Mr. Z makes over $17,000 a month by using the ABC idea…and when you implement it, it doesn’t work and you don’t see $17,000 a month and so you move on to another product that says you can make $11,000 a month in your spare time…and so you try that and when that doesn’t work you move on to something else…

I know this is you because this was ME way back in the day.  But quite frankly, I just can’t keep quiet any more…and I’m tired of my reputation being soiled simply because I call myself an Internet Marketer.

I personally can’t change the entire online world, but I sure can change the tide for the small amount of people who deal with me.  Have I made mistakes?  Sure!  I’ve fallen for the junk, I’ve tried ideas that didn’t sit well in my gut only to have them not work out in the end…and I’ve learned.

I grew up with real values…values that said “What goes around comes around” and “do unto others…”.

Maybe the “nice guy” always finishes last and if that’s me, well, then so be it.  I’d rather be honest and upfront with those who deal with me than have bad karma come knocking at my door.

Thanks for reading…

Humbly,

Kristine

Happy Earth Day - Here are some tips…

Hey everyone - happy Earth day!

If you’re like our family, you do whatever you can to “go green”…Yahoo has some great information on a few of the topics…

Learn about freecycling - Never heard of it? It’s where people who no longer want some of their things offer it for free on a freecycling site…this way another person can have the item at no cost and the item doesn’t end up in the landfill - http://green.yahoo.com/blog/greenpicks/149/same-thrill-no-bill.html;_ylt=Agucso7bIiMIdytiFGjsJ5qdV8cX

Confusion about Work at Home Fees

I recently read a comment by someone who said:

“I have a home “business”. These are the ones that make you pay a fee. It’s worth it if you really want to make money though.”

The word “fee” tends to put people immediately on the defense since we’ve always been told to never, ever pay a fee to join a business. And this is true…kind of…

There are multiple different kinds of fees when it comes to a work at home business - it’s a matter of deciphering what the fee is used for and why.

It’s not unusual for a home based business or network marketing company to charge a fee to get you started in the business. Typically this fee is for some initial products and advertising pieces to help get you started. This kind of fee is completely acceptable provided that you aren’t being overcharged for the products and you aren’t “required” to pay a fee each and every month to the company to remain in business.

Let’s address each one of those:

A) Being overcharged for the products. If you have decided to sign up with a Network Marketing company, you already know about their products (or at least you should - if you don’t I don’t suggest you sign with the company). When you sign up with a legitimate network marketing company, generally you have to pay a start-up fee that gets you some products you can begin to show your customers. These products are usually priced at a wholesale cost - not retail. This way, when you sell a product at the retail price, you make a profit.

B) A monthly fee. Some companies have what they call an “auto-ship” program. What this means is that for a set price each month, the company will send you a set amount of products related to the fee you pay each month. For the most part, auto-ship programs are great if you sell a lot of products. For example, one company I know of will auto-ship you the newest fragranced candle each month along with votives and a few extras for a set price. This way you receive a product well below retail that you can turn around and sell for a profit.

If however you are just beginning your business, it might be rather difficult to turn these items around into profit. I personally don’t suggest an auto-ship program until you’ve built up a steady clientele…many network marketing leaders may tell you different but also keep in mind their intentions.

If you sign up for an auto-ship program, not only are you paying a fee each month but your upline or leader also gets a portion of that fee. So before you sign up, be sure it’s in YOUR best interest to do so and not someone else’s.
